Alpen Adria Galerie

The two rooms of the Alpen Adria Gallery have been put at the
disposal of Hubert Lobnig and Birgit Knoechl, who in a dialogue with
the gallery’s architecture developed projects relating to the locale.
K08 thus abandons – for a certain span of time – curatorial rules
and presents two artists whose focus is on a thematic, historical, or
space-related localization of their works. In his installation composed
of objects, projections, video and painting Hubert Lobnig refers to
the interior design, in particular to the added steel staircase designed
at the beginning of the seventies by the architect, Adolf Bucher. The
motif of climbing stairs is taken up in several perspectives in another
audio-visual projection object. Birgit Knoechl works likewise with
space interlaced with drawing and object. In her work she associates
the growth of a line with vegetable forms. Through a cut-out process
the line drawn becomes a three-dimensional object that literally
spreads rankly into the room.
