Museum des Nötscher Kreises
Celebrating its 10-year jubilee in 2008 the museum of the
Nötsch Circle (”Nötscher Kreis“), with the painters Anton Kolig,
Franz Wiegele, Sebastian Isepp, and Anton Mahringer, presents
four outstanding representatives of 20th century painting in Austria.
The K08 exhibition expands this focal point affording an insight into
contemporary figurative painting. From Franz Grabmayr and Karl
Stark, who count among the most significant representatives of
abstractive landscape painting, a bow is drawn across the generations
to a younger one. The latter has rediscovered and intensified
traditional topics like landscape, portrait or genre painting, placing
these into the centre of a novel and contemporary reinterpretation.
Yet, the artists do not only have this painterly concept in common,
but also in some cases a biographical proximity to the location of
the exhibition. We see paintings by Alex Amann, Helga Druml, Franz
Grabmayr, Guido Katol, Richard Klammer, Alina Kunitsyna, Markus
Orsini-Rosenberg, Karl Stark, Hugo Wulz, and, in the bay, an object
installation by Johann Feilacher.
