From its beginnings in 1967 the Krastal quarry, as one holistic
piece of art, has established itself as a centre of international
sculpturing. In the gallery rooms of the Sculptors’ Building K08
presents a selection of works of the association members.
Constructivist socle correspondences by Katja N. Busse, machinegenetic sculptures by Herbert Golser, stone suturations and material adaptations by Michael Kos, and the head additions by Meina
Schellander document relevant artistic extensions of stone as the
classic material, so characteristic of contemporary stone sculpture.
On the Place of the Sculptures a selection of large sculptures
is presented which, despite their size, are geared to a play of
forms through change and motion. Both parts of the exhibition
demonstrate the experimental and investigative approach toward
stone sculpturing typical of the younger generation of the Krastal
art community and the guests of the annual symposium. In July,
during this year’s symposium, visitors have the extra opportunity of
getting an insight into the work of the Krastal artists in situ.
